When seeking help with my depression in 2011 I was prescribed medication and attended counselling sessions but they didn’t make a good fit for me.
The only thing that really made the difference for me was exercise – getting out of the house and moving around did wonders for my mood – 6 months later I had chosen to forgo the medication and counselling sessions and started training regularly instead. The confidence I had in myself began to build and I was becoming a different person.
My experience with exercise motivated me to become a Personal Trainer in order to help others who may be suffering like me and the following year I became a qualified PT. Since then I have gone on to do things I would have never thought possible. I am now running a business in an industry that I am passionate about and I am a Welsh and British Powerlifting champion.
I thoroughly believe that a healthy exercise regime and good nutrition is the key to enjoying life and getting the most out of it. I’m all about enjoying exercise; it should never be a chore and should always make you feel good afterwards.
A healthy lifestyle is not just about the superficial things. It’s also about treating your body right so that it can function healthily. Aside from my personal training and fitness qualifications I have a Master’s degree in Chemistry which has really helped me understand the way our bodies work chemically and how much it relies on the types of food we put into it.
The reason I started personal training is to help people feel better about themselves inside and out. As well as providing fitness training, I can also offer nutritional advice and be here as a sounding board or someone to talk to.
